The cost of our inspection is based on the size of the home and any ancillary structures that you might want reviewed. But, before we get to that, let's discuss how a price is determined. Since you are here, I believe it is reasonable to assume that you are in the process of purchasing a property and are looking for a home inspector. While I understand that everyone has a budget, ask yourself if price really really is your deciding factor. Let me put it this way, would you price shop for a surgeon and choose the low bidder? When you call an inspection company, find out about their experience. How long have they been inspecting? What is and is not included in an inspection. For instance, some inspection companies do not include an inspection of the roof. Are they members of an organization that provides education to keep them up to date on current information and laws? Ask for a copy of a home inspection report. A qualified and careful inspector will provide you with information on your prospective home, good or bad, that will help you make an informed decision. An inspection on an average sized home in Sonoma County will generally run between $500.00 and $600.00. Inspection of a larger home or one that is farther away will cost more. Can you get an inspection for less? Well sure. Remember this though: A home inspector bases the price of his/her inspection entirely on the quality of the service provided. An inspector who sets a low price probably knows the value of his/her service and has priced it accordingly. Purchasing a home is a big deal, so before you decide on an inspector, make sure you know something about your inspector and the service they provide in addition to their price.
